I have been able to compare an original pop up store version (2016) with some of the reprints (2019).As noted, the CD is a different format with alternative versions of “Nikes” and “Pretty Sweet”.Previously not noted, (1) the colouration is a little different (more of a greenish hue), and (2) there are no matrix runout codes. Finally, (3) the disc is held in the magazine not by a little “rubber button” as in the reprints, but by something more like what you find in the centre of a jewel case (terminology?)

Maybe I just have personal stake in it, but I think the record sounds great. There's a bit of surface noise but the mastering itself is top notch on my system. The sleeve itself is quality too, and I much prefer the greyscale cover to the color one.

Apparently, there's an unofficial version on black vinyl with the black album cover floating around. It still has the "For promotional use" sign on the back of sleeve, so be wary. One just sold for $225 on ebay.

Yeah, even though I don't have this in my collection, I do have copies of the mp3 files and I can confirm that those are really the only differences, the extended "Nikes" and an alternate intro for "Pretty Sweet", plus these were only released in the mp3 format, it wasn't released in another format like FLAC or WAV.

Pretty loud surface noise but other than that it honestly doesn't sound that bad.The transparent marble yellow looks really nice imo.My only large gripe is that the "bonus tracks" or singles don't come after the final track. 'Godspeed' and 'Futura Free' are definitely meant to be played back to back. And they replaced 'Nikes' with the extended version, instead of making it a bonus track.If you are a huge Frank fan but can't afford the insane resale of the official version, this is easily the best bootleg to date.

Also very interested to get an answer (or an informed ballpark) on this.My guess: I read in an article contemporary with the drop: at the NYC pop-up, as the line swelled, they picked the first 260 people out and told everyone else to go home.At 4 x pop-up locations (Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago and London) * 260 = 1040 copies.Of course, the other locations could have been smaller/larger, and the original reporting could be flawed. Interesting to think about the non-give away copies also, ie. any proof copies and copies for Frank, the contributors and their friends. 1200 seems plausible?Would be great to hear from people attending the pop-up and from people associated with the printing (were the mags all printed in the US and then shipped to the other locations, or were there local print-runs? my copy sounds great! i stopped in my local record store and they had all of frank's releases on bootlegs. I rly couldn't resist seeing as the official pressing is not obtainable for me. The clear vinyl actually suits this album's aesthetics extremely well. For a bootleg, this is some very good stuff ~ * <3edit: my copy has side B and D's grooves off center so some parts sound a lil funky, nothing too bad, just when longer notes play they sound kinda warped :/ still recommend this pressing tho

My copy came damaged pretty heavily from Sandbag, which really sucked. On Side A there's some issues with the left channel not playing because of heavy scratching around the first few songs. There's even two gouges that make me scared to play the record anymore in fear of damaging my needle. The undamaged parts sound fine but they're very quiet, and sometimes there's clipping such as at the end of Ivy.

“Mitsubishi Sony” is a slightly reworked and extended version of the song “Higgs” from Frank Ocean’s 45-minute-long visual album, Endless. The song’s lyrics were featured on one of the pages of the Boys Don’t Cry magazine, which were made available to people who purchased the album at the Pop Up Shops. The lyrics were written alongside the lyrics of the unreleased track “Easy”.“Mitsubishi Sony” was used as the finale to the original live stream of Endless on August 19, 2016. The official release of Endless on Apple Music was found to be slightly different than the one that was streamed live. Super clean, and very quiet record!! Pretty impressed with the pressing itself, but disappointed by sandbag and distribution. Super disorganized, and many rookie mistakes were made. I ordered ASAP on black friday, but just received my copy ((with no black friday sticker)). They should have had plenty of stock on hand, or only put a number of copies up for sale. It seems like they got too many orders they couldn't fill, and then pulled stock from the upcoming standard release to fill them after the black friday copies ran out.

If any of you are having trouble on why your vinyl didn't come when you ordered it on Black Friday, contact Sandbag on their Twitter account. They seem to be way more responsive there than their email. I was sent the wrong item and I tweeted them and they replied right away saying they would send me a replacement once they got more in production. I didn't get a shipping confirmation email, but it did arrive, though the cover was a little damaged(and not from shipping). Hope this helps

Not the best bootleg but far from the worst! My copy plays through fine with pretty minimal noise and has decent depth of sound and not as quiet as other people seem to be experiencing. Maybe the wax color makes a difference? Both LPs in mine are properly labeled and semi-translucent white. I'll hold onto this until the price comes down on the stupid "black friday only" official pressing.

Just played my copy and the pressing I got is absolute garbage. There is so much noise, pops and clicks that it's unbearable to listen to. The volume is also about 50% quieter than a standard quality pressing. I'm definitely returning this one.

Just got my Black Friday copy. Even after a cleaning there's plenty of surface noise throughout, and one LP even has some pretty bad marks on it. The marks don't seem to affect play, but with all the surface noise, I can't be sure.

For what it's worth I played the LP on a different turntable and most of the sound issues are minimized. Still disappointed with the marks on the vinyl (LP 2, side 1), but overall worth the retail price.

friggiesmalls that's possible, but the autographed Untitled Unmastered sold WAY more than intended. It was originally supposed to sell like 3000 copies or something like that, but it sold out in a day but the company kept taking orders for over a week after. There's probably over 10,000 copies of signed UU... this was in a 24 hour time frame so I'd say there's probably only a couple thousand sold (especially since a lot of people didn't realize it was only for sale for a limited time) Dude, it's so obvious that you're trying to convince people these prices are realistic because you have a copy of it. The Frank Ocean black friday sale was covered by pretty much all of the music press, blogs and magazines, as well as a bunch of major news sites. Compared to this the Kendrick Lamar release had next to no exposure. Not to mention this already is one of the hottest albums of the year, and people have been waiting for it for months. The Kendrick Untitled release was largely perceived as "B-side material" by the mainstream fans. It's wishful thinking on your part to assume there's only a couple of thousand copies. Expect 6-7 at the very least. And with that in mind the prices should be about half of what they are now in no time.

What the people who commented don't realize: this was a Black Friday edition. If another pressing is released, it will most likely have the normal white, color album art. It only sold for 24 hours on his website. There's no point of making a Black Friday edition if isn't a "short run" pressing. Do I think this will be the only official vinyl pressing? No. But it's a limited-release special edition. They will probably appear in a few stores now and then after they're shipped, but once they're gone they'll be gone for good. They will probably sell another official pressing in a month or two, but the cover will probably be the normal album art colors.

Oh, I absolute did realize that. I simply just noted that it was a pre order where everyone who wanted a copy was able to order one, and that you should expect there to be thousands of copies available. Given the big fan base of Frank Ocean and the coverage of both this record and the black friday sale, I wouldn't be surprised if this run ends up being much bigger than the second pressing. The prices don't reflect what the actual value of these records will be once released.

I totally agree about the quality of this pressing! Plays 10x better than my Kanye "TLOP" boot. In a way this pressing of "Blond" feels/looks like it can definitely pass as the official release, if that makes sense.

Supposedly this is out of 1000, but even if that's true more pressings will certainly be on the way soon. Channel Orange must have gotten something close to 10 runs. As far as quality, I'm actually pretty impressed. I have a few of the Kanye boots, and have listened to the boots they've done of Beyonce, Gorillaz, Kendrick, etc., and this is definitely the quietest on surface noise and pops, loudest in terms of volume, cleanest overall. I was surprised, but stoked.
