I appreciate the folk touches in this occult rock album. "The Devil's Widow" is a great opener with interesting tempo changes and good vocals and flute from Alia O'Brian. Reminds me of Jethro Tull. I'm not sure that all the tracks are of the same quality, but it will grow on me I think. The closing track is particularly interesting: discordant bass noises and twisted ambience start to invade its progression towards the end; another world summoned up by the blood ceremony? Weird but compelling. I don't think this album is quite as good as "The Eldritch Dark", but worth a listen for sure. Decent recording and pressing, if nothing special. My purple vinyl copy is slightly warped, but it plays ok and is without noise.

Windforge

Blood Ceremony are a consistenly brilliant band and this album is an excellent addition to their growing catalogue. Like their previous albums Lord Of Misrule defies the "Doom Rock" tag. It is both easy to get into while deep enough to give increasing satisfaction on repeated listens.
